The Cleveland Cavaliers will begin the search for their new head coach with Kenny Atkinson and James Borrego as the top candidates.

The team's top two candidates for the position are Golden State Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson and New Orleans assistant James Borrego, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Cleveland is expected to speak to more sitting assistant coaches after they secure permission.
Borrego is also being considered for the Lakers' coaching vacancy. He coached the Charlotte Hornets from 2018 to 2022, leading the team to back-to-back Play-In appearances.

Atkinson, meanwhile, spent 3 seasons with the Brooklyn Nets with an 118-190 record. He has strong relationships with Cavaliers players Jarrett Allen and Caris LeVert, two guys he also coached during his time with the Nets.
