Leah Williamson has signed a contract extension with Arsenal.

The England skipper has spent her entire senior career with the Gunners, having joined Arsenal's Centre of Excellence at nine years old. Williamson has gone on to make 232 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals in the process and laying claim to one Women's Super League title, two FA Cup trophies and four Continental Cup titles.

Williamson, 27, returned to full fitness after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury last season and helped Jonas Eidevall's side to a third-placed finish in the English top-flight to secure European football next season while once again pipping Chelsea to the Continental Cup trophy.

The centre-back, who led England to Euro 2022 triumph, has played a crucial role in Arsenal's success since her senior debut in 2014 and has now signed a new multiple-year contract with the club to extend her stay.

On her contract extension, Williamson said: "Everyone knows what Arsenal means to me, but I think every time I sign a new contract, I feel that love ignite all over again. I'm very happy to be staying - this is a place where I can still continue to grow, develop and be challenged.

"As a group, we're all very focussed on bringing more silverware to this club and I can't wait to get started again when the next season comes around."

Head coach Eidevall said: "Leah is an essential part of our team, so we're delighted she has signed a new contract with us. Director of Women's Football Clare Wheatley said: "Leah's connection to Arsenal runs deep. I can remember her as a girl in our academy many years ago, and I'm so proud of the determined, passionate woman she has become. We're thrilled that Leah has signed a new deal here and I know our supporters will join me in congratulating her."
