Oleksandr Usyk has warned Tyson Fury he looks "skinny" just days before their undisputed world title clash.
Fury and Usyk fight this Saturday to crown the first undisputed heavyweight world champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999. There were ugly scenes at the start of fight week as Fury's dad John headbutted a member of Usyk's team, leaving him covered in blood and with a big cut on his forehead.
As Fury was making the walk for the grand arrivals on Tuesday evening in Riyadh, Usyk's promoter Alex Krassyuk said: "He looks skinny, who is the middleweight now? That's because he's nervous, when you are nervous you lose weight or gain weight, like his father." Usyk then agreed by saying of his rival: "He looks smaller a little bit, light skinny.
Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are set to lock horns in a huge bout on May 18 with each fighter attempting to etch their name in boxing history as the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999. The stakes couldn't be higher as the pair will go head to head for the prestigious WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF titles.
Fury then dismissed talks of him coming in at career-lightest weight for the fight. “I’ll tell you my weight, it’s about 19-stone. I wish I was [240/250lb] but I’m around 19-stone. I’ve been in good shape, I’ve two or three camps back to back. People say to me all the time ‘You’re looking skinny’ but I’m weighing the exact same on the scales I’ve been using for the last 10 years," he said.
Fans weren't impressed with Fury's latest physique reveal ahead of the most important fight of his career, as brutal critics told him to ' lose the love handles.' Fury has been eating around 3000 calories on his rest days but has doubled his caloric intake to nearly 6000 for training days.
“I predict somebody’s 0 has got to go," Fury said of the fight. "Someone’s 0 has to go to and it’s going to be that team over there unfortunate for them. Usyk is a great fighter, Olympic gold medalist, cruiserweight and heavyweight world champion. Unfortunately for him, he has to come up against the great Tyson Fury in the era of me.
“I’m really looking forward to Saturday night. Even if he had 20-million people screaming his name, they cannot fight for him on the night. When there’s two men in there on the night, it’s going to be daunting when he’s got The Undertaker in the ring with him. I’m coming for you sucker, sausage."
