Pint-sized Abdu Rozik will make his boxing debut next month - forcing him to postpone his wedding as a result.
Rozik, who stands at three-feet tall, has long been touted to step through the ropes after calling out rival Hasbulla. But Rozik, who was diagnosed with dwarfism as a child, will instead make his debut on the Social Knockout 3 fight card in Dubai on July 6, the day before his planned nuptials.
Rozik, who is engaged to Amira, said: "I never imagined that I'll get the chance to fight for a title in my life. After so many good things happening this year for my career and my love life, unfortunately, I have to postpone the wedding as this match will give us huge financial security for the future. Amira supports my decision fully as it will change a lot for us. It’s the first-ever title for someone my size and I have a heavy training camp to endure as well these days."
Rozik, whose opponent has not been named, previously told The Hindustan Times of his engagement: "Her name is Amira and she is 19 years old. She is studying business administration in a university in Sharjah. She lives here and we both will make our home together here only. She is the most beautiful girl I have ever met."
Rozik is a regular at boxing's biggest events, including Tyson Fury's undisputed heavyweight title fight with Oleksandr Usyk where he was photographed with Cristiano Ronaldo. But it is his rivalry with Hasbulla which has captivated fight fans, with the pair clashing at a UFC event three years ago.
Most recently, Rozik told talkSPORT: "I'm always ready to fight Hasbulla. I’m ready always! I don’t like him. He’s like when people are not respectful. If he sees somebody, he punches him immediately. It’s not even, ‘Hi, how are you?’ If he sees you… he is coming and punching you."
Hasbulla reportedly signed a five-year deal with the UFC in 2022 to help them promote events and is a regular at cageside with the promotion's CEO Dana White.
