Jake Paul has been warned that Mike Tyson could 'hurt him badly' in their boxing fight.
'Iron Mike' is back in the ring when he faces Youtuber-turned-boxer Paul on July 20 at the 80,000 seat Dallas Cowboys stadium. The controversial fight will be sanctioned as a professional bout by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations, despite there being a 31-year gap between Tyson and Paul.
Paul has faced heavy criticism for agreeing to fight Tyson, who in recent years has needed a wheelchair and cane to assist him. British boxing legend Amir Khan thinks Tyson, who will be 58-years-old on fight night, could still KO Paul despite not having competed in a professional fight since 2005.
“No one would have ever expected a fight like that fight to be made,” Khan told Gambling Zone. "Mike Tyson is a legend of the game and not someone who you want to mess about with, even though he’s older now and has been retired for a long time, he has obviously done a few exhibitions.
I just can't believe what Jake Paul's thinking. He's fighting a heavyweight great and I think he can get hurt badly. Is it just hype with Mike and Jake posting it at the same? This is unreal and I hope that Mike doesn't end up hurting him because at the end of the day, I like Jake, but Mike is not a person you want to mess with or do an exhibition with.
"Especially when you're a lot smaller and lighter. I don't know how this fight is going to go. Is it really going to happen? It amazes me and I am shocked. I've got Mike Tyson winning by knockout. Even though he's in his fifties, he's still a dangerous guy not to be messed with."
Tyson and Paul will wear 14oz gloves and no headgear in their fight, which unfolds over eight, two-minute rounds. Paul looks to extend his professional record to 10-1 with a win against Tyson, who ended his professional career at 50-6, 2NC after losing to journeyman Kevin McBride.
