The 2024 NBA Playoffs are heating up. And the Minnesota Timberwolves and Anthony Edwards surprised many by taking out the No. 2 seed Denver Nuggets in seven games. The “Inside the NBA” crew on TNT has been one of the staples of playoff basketball coverage and they’re one of the most beloved groups out there. Unfortunately for them, they decided to add Draymond Green to their crew and not surprisingly, Timberwolves fans decided to welcome Green with a “Draymond Sucks” chant ahead of Game 1 of their series with the Dallas Mavericks.

Green is one of the more hated players in the NBA, so the “Inside the NBA” crew likely expected responses like the one from Minnesota fans on Wednesday night.

The Timberwolves came up short in Game 1 of the series

Unfortunately for Timberwolves fans, the Dallas Mavericks had the last laugh in Game 1, winning 108-105. The Mavericks got dynamic performances from their two superstars, Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic both erupted for 30-plus points. Irving scored 24 of his 30 points in the first half. It’s his 4th 30-point game this postseason. Doncic stuffed the stat sheet with 33 points, eight assists, and six rebounds.

Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards only had 19 points, shooting 6 of 16 from the field. He also connected on 5 of 12 shots from beyond-the-arc. Edwards stuffed the stat sheet with 19 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists. Jaden McDaniels led the Timberwolves in scoring with 24 points, while also grabbing four rebounds.

Minnesota is 1-3 in their last four playoff home games. The Mavs connected on 16 of their 17 free throw attempts, drilling 94.1%. Wednesday night’s game was back-and-forth, with Dallas outscoring Minnesota 26-22 in the fourth quarter. The Mavericks also outrebounded the Timberwolves 48-40. Dallas also had 62 points in the paint. Dereck Lively had nine points and 11 rebounds for the Mavericks.

He’s really come on lately in the playoffs for the Mavs. The former Duke star posted double-doubles in the last two games of the Mavericks series vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder. Not only that, in Game 6 of that series, he grabbed 15 rebounds.

Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals is slotted for 8:30 PM on Friday, May 24th. Tip-off time is slated for 8:30 PM EST. That one will be in Minnesota, in the Target Center.
