Jake Paul and Mike Tyson were shocked to hear a child ask them about their “body count” during their pre-fight press conference.
YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul is taking on legendary heavyweight Tyson in a much-hyped bout in Texas in July. The two faced the media in New York on Monday night to speak about the fight, which has intrigued fans due to the 30-year age gap between them.
They faced off for the cameras, with Tyson pretending to punch Paul in the stomach, before fielding questions about the motivation behind the encounter. But after dealing with the more straightforward questions from reporters, the microphone was handed over to a young boy, who had a different line of questioning.
He started off OK by asking which of them would train him better to become a boxer. Tyson replied: “Me, definitely me.” Paul then added: “Older fighters have more heart and balls and weren’t afraid, but I think the newer fighters have more skill and technique and are sharper. So that’s why I’d be a better coach.”
Clearly delighted with the reply, the boy shot back: “Yeah, s***! So you think he’s got bigger balls? Who do you think has got a higher body count? What’s your body count Jake?! What’s your body count?”
After an awkward pause in which Paul dropped his head into his hands, Tyson said: “Where is this kid’s mother?” Undeterred, the kid asked again: “Jake, you think yours’ is higher?” Needless to say, he did not answer the question.

It was a bizarre moment befitting what will be a bizarre fight between a 27-year-old and a man who retired from professional boxing in 2005. Many have questioned the reason behind the bout, which will take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on July 20 and will consist of eight two-minute rounds with bigger gloves than a standard professional fight.
Asked why he was doing it, Tyson replied: "It was a no-brainer. He's a new up and coming guy on the scene and I like shaking the sports world to the core and I'm doing it now. It's just something I want to do."
Paul added: "A couple of weeks after the contract was signed we got a call from Mike's team to say he wanted it to be a pro fight. He wants to put it all on the line and I respect him for that. He was game.
"I think he has always wanted to do this. It's been a long time coming and we finally got to make it happen on Netflix, the biggest platform in the world. Things just keep getting bigger and better.
"Mike wanted it and he wanted it to be a pro fight, he wants the war. I respect him for stepping up to try and put an end to me. That's what all the fighters want to do, end the YouTuber and if Mike can do that he's a hero. This is the biggest fight of the 21st century."
Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are set to lock horns in a huge bout on May 18 with each fighter attempting to etch their name in boxing history as the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999. The stakes couldn't be higher as the pair will go head to head for the prestigious WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF titles.
